Vast quantities of rice meant to be distributed to earthquake victims remains stored in warehouses throughout Nepal, and instead of being handed out for free it will be sold to the public at wholesale prices. The Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) government agency said millions of dollars worth of rice donated by the Bangladesh government in the wake of the devastating 7.8 magnitude quake in April last year is slowly expiring in storage. But it argues that there is "no demand" for the rice or additional food from disaster-struck villages around the country. The proceeds from the rice, which at market prices would bring in around US$30 million, will be placed in a future disaster fund available for use by the government. However, the fund has not yet been established and further details have not been ironed out.

A widening crackdown has identified a record number of people suspected of acquiring their Nepali citizenship status through fraud.The India-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship was signed by the last Rana Prime Minister of Nepal, Mohan Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana, and the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Chandreshwor Narayan Singh on 31 July 1950 and came into force the same day. It has ten articles. The treaty provides for everlasting peace and friendship between the two countries and the two governments agree mutually to acknowledge and respect the complete sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of each other. As per Articles 6 and 7, the two governments agree to grant, on a reciprocal basis, to the nationals of one country in the territories of the other, the same privileges in the matter of residence, ownership of property, participation in trade and commerce, movement and other privileges of a similar nature.

(Xinhua/Praatp Thapa) KATHMANDU, Jan. 20 (Xinhua)-- Nepalese Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel said on Wednesday that the government is preparing to bring four Chinese aircraft in accordance with the bilateral agreement between China and Nepal. As per the bilateral deal signed between state-owned Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and AVIC International, the state-owned Chinese plane manufacturing company, the former should purchase six aircraft from the company. Nepal has already purchased two aircraft MA60 and Y-12e which the NAC has already received. But the remaining four planes are yet to be received by the Nepal government. The government has already made payment for manufacturing the planes through the China Exim Bank,the minister told a seminar on "Aviation Cooperation between Nepal and China" organized by Asia Pacific Daily (APD) of the Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday.

Fire breaks out the house at Thapagaun.The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has termed major appointments made by the Ministry of Health at Nepal Health Research Council in recent time as illegal, claiming that the appointments were made through minister-level decisions bypassing the cabinet. A press statement issued by the CIAA on Wednesday stated that the CIAA found appointment of some office bearers at the health research body were made through minister-level decision though it should have been done by the cabinet. The statement reads that the appointment of Dr Krishna Prasad Adhikari as chairman of the council, Dr Budha Basnet as vice-chairman and Dr Sarita Pandey, Dr Pradeep Gyawali, Dr Hem Bahadur Limbu, Dr Sarita Shrestha and Dr Sanjeev Kumar Sharma as members, and Dr Khem Bahadur Karki as member secretary of the council were made by the then health minister despite the legal provision that the appointment of office bearers at government bodies like council must be done by the cabinet. Khaga Raj Adhikari was the health minister when the office bearers were appointed at the council.

The mortal body of journalist Barbara Adams, who passed away Saturday, is to be placed at the Nepal Academy premises from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday for last tributes. Her last rights will be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat as per her wish the same day, the Barbara Peace Foundation said. Barabara had first time arrived here in 1960 as a journalist to cover the royal visit paid by British Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, she had been staying here.She has an incredible contribution in starting professional tourism in Nepal and promoting it. She was a freelance journalist. She acquired the Nepali citizenship in 2065 BS. Of late she had been actively engaged in a campaign of constructing house for the landless people in Baitadi and Darchula, the districts in the far-western region. She had instituted the 'Barbara Adams Investigation Journalism Award' at the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, Tribhuvan University. RSS

He is very greedy and treats others in a very bad way. There is a poor low caste guy in his calls and he treats him very badly. Despite being poor he has very good norms which makes him a good man. The guy treats him very badly and one day on his girlfriend’s birthday he gets invited. He goes home early because he is treated badly but others enjoy and get drunk. The rich guy and his girlfriend pay the bill and go home but on the way they meet him and the guy thinks that it is very unlucky to see him. Just a few minute later they get into an accident and are in the verse of dy#ng. But the same low caste guy sees them and takes them to hospital. In the hospital the doctor tells him that the guy is in need to blood and kidney. So, he talks to the doctor and manages to give his own kidney to him. But after the guy recovers instead of thanking him he again starts to say bad things about the guy and the doctor hears it. The doctor gets very angry, so he sl@ps him and tells him the truth which makes him feel very bad about himself.

Earthquake Real Hero Inspector Laxman Basnet has Rescue Pemba Lama from Gongabu, Kathmandu, NepalA 15-year-old boy has been rescued alive from a Gongabu-based guest house on Thursday, 120 hours after the Great Quake on Saturday. A rescue team under Armed Police Force Inspector Laxman Bahadur Basnet rescued Pemba Lama, a resident of Nuwakot, from underneath the debris of the guest house after five hours of rescue operation. Lama, a worker at the guest house, was trapped inside the building where four guest houses, Bhuwaneshwori, Dipawali, Hilton and New Star, were operational.

Pm Oli mobilise over 1,300 engineers this week as part of the post-quake reconstruction campaign, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli said on Wednesday. More than half a million houses were damaged in a devastating 7.9-magnitude earthquake in April last year. The international community has pledged $4.1 billion in financial aid to quake-ravaged Nepal. The engineers and architects, who are selected on the basis of merit and interview, will remain in their designated area for two years. They will begin the task in the affected districts from this weekend.

The examination form distribution for the Test Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) language, for aspirant Nepali workers for Korean jobs under the Employment Permit System (EPS), has begun from Wednesday. The aspiring candidates for Korean jobs should submit their forms on April 27-30. The TOPIK language, for aspirant Nepali workers for Korean jobs under the Employment Permit System (EPS), has been scheduled for June 18 and 19. The candidates who pass the Korean exam will be vying for jobs in manufacturing and agricultural sectors for the year 2017.The TOPIK exam will be conducted in Kathmandu and Pokhara. According to EPS Section Director Dilli Ram Bastola, the forms can be submitted at five different places in the Kathmandu Valley and five other centers outside the valley -- Butwal, Pokhara, Dharan, Janakpur and Dadeldhura. The candidates who pass TOPIK will be registered in the roaster of workers for South Korea and later will be shortlisted according to employer's demand. The Korean government had opened 7,100 worker positions for agriculture and manufacturing sectors for 2016.

A candlelight vigil ceremony was organized at the local Bhugol Park in New Road, on Sunday commemorating those who lost their lives in the 'Gorkha earthquake' that struck the country on April 25, 2015. The ceremony was organized by the Yogi Narharinath Trust Spiritual Council and Hanuman Aradhana Mandal Nepal. On the occasion, tributes were paid to the departed souls following certain rituals. Council Chair Shankar Poudel complained that the government failed to do justice to the families of those killed in the disaster and its survivors. There was no just distribution of relief assistance received by the government from various donor agencies for the disaster survivors, he argued. Different political leaders and commoners were at the Bhugol Park to remember the dead souls on the first anniversary of the devastating earthquake that ended in the tragic death of around 9,000 people.
